When facing situations involving change, I want my security blanket of "safe and familiar" tucked tightly around me. I am often tempted to pull the blanket over my head in denial. Change can be difficult. It comes with uncertainty. It requires bravery and is not for the faint of heart.
However, the truth is that change is inevitable. It will happen whether I embrace it or not. Often, you and I may not be able to control the change around us, but we can control our response to it.
Here are some encouraging thoughts. They have helped me shed the worn-out security blanket and embrace today's new changes.
Understand we can walk confidently into the future, knowing God is in control. As believers, we know God works all things for our good. He has plans for our future. We can move forward trusting in our good Savior. I am reminded of Jeremiah 29:11: "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." He knows every detail of your future, and He is sovereign. We can confidently trust Him in the days ahead.
We can move forward in any situation because God is already there. Timeframes do not limit God. He has been with His people in the past, is with us in our present situations, and is in our future. Therefore, if God is with us, there is no need to worry. I want to trust in the One who knows the future. I choose to move forward instead of staying paralyzed under my blankets.
Remember that if God cares for the lilies, He cares about you. We are worth far more than a lilly. Luke 12 says this: "Consider the lilies how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass which is alive in the field today, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, how much more will he clothe you, O you of little faith! And do not seek what you are to eat and what you are to drink, nor be worried. For all the nations of the world seek after these things, and your Father knows that you need them. Instead, seek His kingdom, and these things will be added to you."
Join me, friend. Let us toss off the security blanket and jump into today's newness—changes and all. You and I get to choose how we will respond. Do you choose to hide under the blanket or see the lilies? I say, let us move forward with crazy victory, for God is in control, He is in our future, and He cares deeply for you and me.
Blessings!
