It was an ordinary morning.
I was tucked cozily under my blanket. Hitting the snooze button once again, I rolled over to steal a few minutes of rest before getting out of bed. I was too exhausted to jump into the day.
How about you? Are you tired and worn? Do you need to hit the pause button on your life?
Interestingly, our Lord often paused to be renewed. He, too, found quiet moments to strengthen himself. Ok, maybe not under blankets hitting the snooze button, but He did remove himself from the day's business to pray and find his inner strength.
Luke 5:16 (KJV) reads, "the news about Jesus spread all the more, and great crowds came to hear Him and to be healed of their sicknesses. Yet He frequently withdrew to the wilderness to pray." Strength is found when I pull from my routine's craziness to talk to my Abba Father. I encourage you to linger in His presence today. Hit the pause button and seek time to pray, think, and rest. When we do, we will find the empowerment needed for every day.
"Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11:28-30 ESV
