Mother's Day or Mother's Month?

There are some years when Mother’s Day looks exactly the way we imagined it would—everyone gathered around the table, hugs filling the room, laughter echoing through the house. And then there are years when life has other plans.

This year, my grown children faced challenges that made it difficult for them to come home for Mother’s Day. At first, I could have focused on the disappointment. But instead, I chose to embrace a different perspective. Rather than celebrating just one day, I decided to celebrate an entire Mother’s Month!

And honestly! It became one of the sweetest gifts I’ve ever received.

A Journey of Love

Throughout the month of May, I traveled to see each of my children wherever they were. What started as “making the best of things” quickly turned into something incredibly special.

Every visit held its own unique joy—heartfelt conversations, shared meals, and laughter. The moments reminded me how precious time together truly is. I was able to bring a few grands home for a weekend filled with fun and memories. I flew to another child just to soak up every possible moment together. The one-on-one time was priceless.

Sometimes when our children are younger, we dream about the big family gatherings. But there is something deeply meaningful about individual moments—the uninterrupted conversations, the quiet car rides, the chance to truly see one another in the season we each are walking through.

I found myself cherishing not just the memories we were creating, but the simple blessing of being present.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above…”— Bible James 1:17

Finding Joy in Every Moment

This month reminded me how much life is shaped by perspective. What could have felt lonely became joyful. What could have felt disappointing became deeply meaningful. What could have been one missed celebration became an entire month of connection. God has a beautiful way of teaching us that joy is often found in unexpected places when we remain open to His plans instead of clinging tightly to our own.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him…”— Bible Romans 8:28

May became more than a holiday. It became a season of intentional love, deepened bonds, and treasured memories. And honestly, I’m beginning to think this may become a new tradition. Because while flowers fade and cards get tucked away, time spent together remains in our hearts forever.

The Priceless Gift of Presence

As mothers, we often pour ourselves into our families for years without realizing how much the little moments matter most. This month reminded me that presence is one of the greatest gifts we can give each other.

Not perfection.Not elaborate plans.Just presence.

“Her children rise up and call her blessed…”— Bible Proverbs 31:28

I look back at this Mother’s Month with overwhelming gratitude. Gratitude for safe travels, meaningful conversations, unexpected laughter, and the blessing of watching my children grow into the people they were created to be.

And yes… gratitude for all the pictures that captured those beautiful moments along the way.

Well, I was not there for this one, but too cute not to share. :)
