Small Choices and Big Doors

We have choices in life—big choices and little choices that fill our daily routine. Sometimes, small decisions may seem insignificant. Perhaps you, like me, often think cheating now and then seems too minor to matter. Sometimes, I want to ignore my Bible reading plan so I can sleep a little longer. Often, I want to grab the tempting, sugary dessert instead of a healthy choice. However, I am learning that these choices, over time, become habits. Habits become a way of life. A way of life leads to a destination. Your decisions are a path to your destination. The small choices in life are not too minor to matter.

Small choices in life are not too minor to matter.

Often, it is the small choices that matter most. Repeated, small, and good decisions can have significant effects. I recently came across a metaphor that illustrates this thought. It was explained as: a single downpour will not change a rock, but a small, consistent drip over time will bore a hole in it.

My mind travels from the consistent drip that changes a rock to the consistent choices that change one's life. Consistency changes me; consistency changes you. Today's small choices unlock tomorrow's big doors.

Today's small choices unlock tomorrow's big doors.

Friend, I encourage you to make the wise, consistent choice to change your tomorrow. Be steady. Make small choices that, over time, will have a significant impact. Keep reading your Bible daily. Keep praying to your God. Stay on that healthy diet plan. Keep learning to craft your art. Do not grow weary. Do the next best thing even if no one is looking because today's small choices unlock tomorrow's big doors.

"And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season, we will reap if we do not give up." Galatians 6:9
