Uninvited

“Mimi, why are you NOT in-vit-ing me?” my three-year-old grandbaby girl quietly asked with her blue eyes questioning. “You are going on all these ‘tips,’ and you are not ‘in-vit-in’ me. Momma says I can’t go unless you ‘vite me.” I immediately scooped up my baby girl and held her tightly. Yes, the last few months had been busy with travel and ministry. There have been no invites for my baby girl to tag along.

Have you ever been so busy you did not pause to invite others into your journey? Have your loved ones felt left out and uninvited? Mine have!

Her innocent question pierced my soul. However, as horrible as this conversation with my baby girl made me feel, it has served as a reminder. I would have an even deeper regret at the end of life, if someone were to ask me, “Mimi or (Becky) why did you not invite me to know your Jesus? “Why did you not tell me of this place called heaven?” “Why did you not invite me?”

My friends, Christ loves you and me deeply. He has prepared a beautiful home away from this earth. We must share the good news. I never want you or me to face questioning eyes from a loved one who asks, “Why did you not invite me? How could you not tell me of this Jesus you know?” As a matter of fact, if you’re reading this and you don’t know you are going to be in heaven, please consider this my invitation. I would love to have a personal conversation with you over a cup of coffee.

You will be glad to hear I have been planning a ‘tip’ for my grand-baby girls. I will also be very intentional to give personal invitations to a beautiful place called heaven. I challenge you my sweet friends, to do the same! We each have a realm of influence who need Jesus!

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 (NIV)
