When Something Hard Gets in Your Way

THIS. TREE.

It stands tall and strong.

It towers over other seemingly insignificant plants as a statement of strength and determination.

Why? Its roots tell its story.

For once upon a time, this tree bumped into something hard. A blockade tried to prevent its growth. A seemingly impassable rock bed stood as a barrier in my tree’s way.

Yet, it found a path not to let the difficult defeat it. Instead, the roots grew over the difficulty and dug deep into the ground on the other side.

It continued to grow, and with time it overcame! Now it stands tall. To me, it is a statement of determination and courage.

Has something difficult ever tried to block your way? Have you, like this tree, ever faced hardship in the middle of your path? Have you been tempted to give up?

My friend, we were made to be much braver than a simple tree. You were created for hard and holy things. You were made in the image of almighty God. You were created with a soul for good works. Next time “hard” bumps into your day, remember God gave you exactly what you need to do and be what He has called you to do and be.

Don’t give up. Instead, keep growing, be courageous. “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV) When you face difficult days, if you feel like giving up because of a hard formidable blockade in your path, trust in the Lord who created you for a big and bold statement of faith. “Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.” Ephesians 6:10 (NIV)

I believe you can find your way around your obstacles. I know He gives His children strength as we dig our roots deep into His power. Keep growing, my friend, and as you do, you too will stand tall. Whatever you are facing today, I challenge you to be like my tree. Don’t give up; find a way around your obstacle, let your roots dig deep, and stand firm!

“What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31 (ESV)
