I feel like my day is dumping on me.
Every now and then, not often, but sometimes, the long hours seem to be filled with one obstacle after another. People disappoint me or responsibilities become harder than expected, and it affects me. I’m sure you’re not like this, but when my day or plans get re-arranged, the unwanted surprises can mess with my attitude. Frustration begins to wiggle itself into my world, and my demeanor can turn south.
Can you relate? Have you ever felt your day is messing with your ‘tude’?
Truth Bomb: When I bump into a bad day, I can become bitter or take conscious steps towards becoming better.
We all have bad moments, but the moment does not mandate the day, unless allowed. A bad moment is just that, a moment. If we give in to the moment and carry it with us the rest of the day, then we have slipped into a negative and bitter disposition. Our bad attitude can even become contagious to those around us.
However, we also have the power to choose to become better even in a bad situation. Easier said than done, right? Here are some steps that are helping me. Hopefully, they will encourage you.
Sometimes you just have to let it go. Sometimes, I have to make deliberate decisions to let a ‘thing’ go. If I stay parked in the negative, the frustrating mental re-plays, it will begin to grow like a cancer in my thoughts. Eventually, the poison will take over my actions. I need to mentally release the offense before it takes hold of my heart. Often the best decision is to choose to let go of the offense even if you are in the right. Do not stay angry. Do not slip into negativity. It only hurts you and those in your realm of influence. We have the power to just let it go. Let’s do it!
Sometimes you just have to hang on tight. God desires to be invited into your issue. Pause to ask for guidance and direction. Go to his word and hang on tight. Hang on tight to His promises. Hang on tight to His word. Hang on tight to the vision He has placed deep within your heart. Hang on tight when others hurt you, by remembering that hurt people hurt people. When your world is dumping on you, you have to let go of the hurt and hang tight to the truth of God’s word.
Lastly, always remember, Genesis 50:20 (NIV) “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.” Joseph’s life is a wonderful treasure of help for you and me, but this one verse, allows his perspective to remind us of God’s Sovereignty. His kind hand has allowed everything into our lives. Each moment is woven together with the intent of conforming us a little more like Him. Let’s rest in His Sovereign reign as He works in our day to day.
So next time when you feel like your day is dumping on you, and you need someone who understands. Can I be that friend, whispering in your ear? “Just let it go and hang on tight!”
Blessings sweet Friends!
