A Lesson From Ice Cream

Once upon a time, four grands and their parents visited Mimi and PopPop during their summer break. The time together was filled with day adventures from local parks to a splash pad and even an indoor trampoline park, among other activities. However, the favorite excursion for most was a treat at an ice cream shop. The cold delight was allergy-friendly and amazingly delicious! Conversations and requests from the grands included plans to revisit this fun little shop in the future for another flavored treat!

My thoughts shift from the delicious sweetness of ice cream to the sweetness of God's Word. Both are sweeter than one deserves! Both are refreshing and life-giving, especially on a hot summer day. Both leave one craving more.

What about you? Are you finding time to enjoy the sweetness of our Lord?

Do you want more and more of Him?

When you are constantly giving out, it is essential to nourish your own soul. My time with the Lord has taken different forms in various seasons. However, allowing extra time with Him might include reading the Word without rushing, learning to sit still, soaking in nature, or listening to more sermons or worship podcasts. It is also the freedom to not say yes to every event around me.

How? I put my sabbath time on my calendar and hold it securely. Does it always work? No! However, I keep trying to make it a priority and not feel guilty about it. I encourage you to do the same because His Word is sweetness to the soul. You will feel closer to the Lord. You will be renewed in His strength. You will become stronger than you ever thought possible. You will grow into His likeness. You will unveil Godly wisdom and understanding.

Psalm 119:103-105 reads, "How sweet are your Words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth! Through your precepts, I get understanding. Therefore, I hate every false way."

How sweet are your Words to my taste!

Friends, His Words are even sweeter than ice cream! This summer, I want you to enjoy both!

Happy Summer!
