Dear Jesus, Please Rescue my Shelf!

Once upon a time - a long time ago - and quite unexpectedly, a yard sale mysteriously and with an uncontrollable magnetic pull escorted my car into another person's front lawn. Somehow with no help from the driver, my car can sniff out a good sale and always needs to stop. (HAHA) As I eagerly searched for the must-haves and inexpensive items, a wooden bookshelf caught my eye. In my excitement, I quickly purchased the find before anyone had a chance to scoop up my treasure.

I was thrilled!!! Until I was not.

As you might imagine, the hearty wooden bookshelf would not fit into the back seat of my tiny Honda. Well, correction - it would not fit in the back seat of my Honda and allow me to shut both car doors. Every angle and shifting was attempted as I tried to shove the bulky shelf in the car. Finally, after endless combinations and since my husband was out of town, I whispered, "Lord, help me figure out how to get this shelf home."

TRUE. STORY. Within minutes of my prayer, a friend 'happened' to come by. She happened to stop at the same yard sale. Guess what?!!! She happened to have a truck! Furthermore, she delivered my bookshelf to my house. All was good in the world again. (HAHA)

You might see my rescue story as a coincidence. But I believe it was an answer to prayer. Yes, sweet friend, I believe my Jesus cares about the details - even my request concerning my bookshelf.

In the crazy of the day to day, you or I might be tempted to think God is unaware of our daily details. In the hard times, we might wonder if God cares.

Friend, He is God of the BIG things, and He is a God of the smallest of detail. "The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives." Psalm 37:23 (NLT) "Why, even the hairs of your head are all numbered." Luke 12:7a (ESV)

And on those days, when I see my detailed God answer a detailed request, I am reminded of how much He sees me. I am mindful of His love. He has an everlasting crush on you and me. He cares about the things that concern you. "The LORD will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O LORD, endures forever; Do not forsake the works of Your hands." Psalms 138:8 (NKJV)

So the next time you wonder if God is aware, remember he cares about everything, even how to help His daughter get a bookshelf home when it does not fit into her tiny Honda. When you question if God sees you, pause on His rescue story for you. If you wonder if He is aware of what is happening on this earth, reread the book of John. Breathe in the truth that He loves you. Rest in the fact that He is a God of rescue. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only son that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." John 3:16 Just pause and soak it in. You are loved. You are seen. God is zealous for you. He cares about every detail. He is a God of rescue.
