It looked dead to me.
I could not imagine any life in the ugly plant I was given. It was brown, withered, and dry. Honestly, it did not seem worth the effort.
I could not see the hidden, beautiful life within. I focused only on the probable and was blinded to the potential.
Yet, this friend encouraged me to plant, water, and care for it. She promised growth and beauty were coming. Although I had no faith in the plant, I trusted the one who knew. So I planted the bulbs and waited.
It lay buried for months until a touch of green poked through the dirt. Then, it grew a little each day. One day, I noticed it had become a beautiful 3-foot centerpiece in my front yard. It not only had matured but had a flowering crown.
Ladies, what I saw with no life has become a favorite! How could I have thought this little guy had no potential? Have you ever doubted when others had a vision? Just like my friend saw the potential in what I thought was worthless, God sees beauty and potential in His girls. He believes in us when others do not. He believes in us when we may not believe in ourselves. PERIOD. He knows the potential He placed in each one of us. He has the plan. He sees the beauty.
"And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ." Philippians 1:6 (ESV)
If my Lord can turn a dead plant into a centerpiece, He can turn a dead life into a masterpiece.
Today, I do not know where you are in this journey of life. Perhaps you feel like a buried bulb living in darkness. Maybe you feel hopeless inside. May I encourage you that growth takes time. Keep leaning towards the Son, for my God takes dead things and brings life.
