Showers of Complaints or Showers of Compliments?

Recently, Terry and I were walking on a beach in Florida. The sand was warm. The sky was big. The breeze was gentle. Life was good, until it wasn't.

Together we ventured under a pier, as I paused to capture the moment.

Yet, my happy time was splashed with an unexpected wave. The crashing wave came out of nowhere, catching me off guard. The salty droplets covered my phone and me. I complained as I wiped the salty water from my face and phone. Have you ever been happily doing your thing only to be showered with disappointment? I have! Did you complain in the moment? I did!

However, as I later viewed my pictures on my phone, my complaints turned to compliments. The pics were a bit artsy and quite remarkable. The wave that had frustrated me earlier, became a welcome dynamic in my pic.

The pictures remind me of life. Sometimes, we are happily doing our thing when a shower of disappointment covers us in a wave of cold, harsh reality. If you are like me, complaints spill from our mouths quickly in these moments.

However, if I pause to look a little closer, beauty is to be found. My focus turned from the negative wave to the positive picture.

I don't know what you are facing today. Maybe you, too, were enjoying your best life only to have a wave of disappointment pour over you. May I suggest that you look for compliments to share instead of complaints to spread? Because when you do, you and everyone around will recognize life as a shower of blessings -even in the disappointments. Yes, life can be hard; but friend, we have the power to choose our words. Choose wisely. Proverbs reads, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits." Today, I challenge you and me to look for the compliments to share instead of complaints to spread!

Let's be a shower of blessings!
