Because you prayed, nearly seventy ladies from my home church gathered Friday through Sunday, Nov 17-19, 2023, for a Ladies' retreat with inspiring Tabatha Frost, Women's leader and Pastor's wife of Providence Baptist Church in Raleigh, NC.
Because you prayed, ladies came during a busy season to be encouraged but also challenged. We soaked in three timely messages under the title of Consider Your Ways from the book of Haggai. This short book repeatedly begs one to consider her ways. Tabatha applied the teaching by challenging us to view our priorities, perspectives, and position in Christ. The Holy Spirit convicted and encouraged us as we simply considered our motives and actions in all things.
“Thus says the Lord of hosts: Consider your ways. Haggai 1:7 (ESV)
If you were unable to join us, read the short Haggai book. Then, ponder these questions from Tabatha Frost. They are thought-provoking, and you will be blessed.
Consider Your Priorities
What are the non-negotiables in your life? What do you think cannot come off your calendar, your budget, your mental energy? Are they related to building God’s kingdom? If not, what practical steps can you take to shift your focus/priorities?
Consider Your Perspective
In what areas are you most tempted to struggle with comparison? With whom or what do you compare yourself? Does comparison typically think more highly of yourself, or does it cause discouragement? What are the dangers of each response? How does the idea of living for the glory of the Lord change your thoughts about comparison?
Consider Your Position in Christ
Throughout the book of Haggai, the Lord asks His people to consider their ways. Knowing that the Lord is always most concerned about people’s hearts and understanding Jesus did the work on the cross to secure our salvation, what role does “the work of our hands” play in the Christian’s life? What should a Christian's heart motivation be in serving the Lord?
As part of God’s kingdom, how is God working through you to build on something that will be unshakeable? How might God be prompting you to use your gifts to invest in or work on something that will last forever?
Because you prayed, we were led to the throne in worship with the talented Emma Qualls as women's voices lifted their voices in sweet harmony to the Lord. I now have a new favorite entitled, Been So Good! It was our theme song for the weekend. So worshipful!
Check it out!
And, of course, when you get ladies together, there will always be a little fun and lots of laughter! These ladies have hidden talents! HAHA! But this is a story for another day!
Indeed, because you prayed, the retreat was a raving success! I want to say thank you. Truly, thank you. Your prayers blessed others. Your prayers have helped ladies stay the course. I am grateful to be a part of this journey with each of you, and today, I pause to say thank you!
I leave you with a very special gift. A beautiful young soul on my team, Caroline Phillips, wrote two devotionals. She has gifted these to you. Download and use in your personal devotions. I promise you will be blessed!
Blessings, sweet friend. Today, I ask you to Consider your ways. Consider your priorities, your perspective, and your position in Christ!
