When I Said YES to a Helicopter Ride!!

Do you want to hear a fun little secret? Terry and I went on a helicopter ride during our visit to Maui!!! The views were amazing, featuring crystal-clear water falls, mountain cliffs, whales and stunning landscapes. Friend, it's easy to say no, to avoid spending too much, or get caught up in all the "what ifs." But it was one of the best things I have ever done! It was thrilling! It was adventurous! It was a good "yes".
Faith feels a lot like stepping into a helicopter—lifting off the ground, leaving behind what feels stable, and trusting you’ll be carried somewhere higher. It can be uncomfortable at first. Your instincts may tell you to stay safe, stay grounded, stay where everything is predictable. But God often calls us beyond comfort and into trust.
Life is short, and every day is a gift filled with opportunities—moments where we can either hold back in fear or step forward in faith. Much like choosing to take that helicopter ride, saying “yes” to God doesn’t always make logical sense. There may be “what ifs,” doubts, or concerns. But when we trust Him, we gain a perspective we could never experience on our own. My life verse is, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6 This passage has carried me when my yes in the spiritual realm appears illogical.
From above, the landscape looks different—broader, more beautiful, more connected. In the same way, when we follow God’s leading, He reveals things we couldn’t see before: purpose in the journey, beauty in the unknown, and growth through the challenge.
Too often, we become trapped in routine or fear, hesitant to step outside what’s familiar. But Scripture reminds us that faith requires movement. It requires courage. It asks us to trust that God is guiding us, even when the path feels uncertain.
So the next time you’re faced with a decision, pause and ask: What might God be inviting me into? What blessing, growth, or perspective might I miss if I say no out of fear?
God doesn’t call us to a small life—He calls us to a full one. A life of trust, boldness, and unforgettable moments shaped by His presence.
Prayer: Lord, help me to trust You more deeply. Give me the courage to say “yes” when You call me beyond my comfort zone. Remove the fear that holds me back and replace it with faith that lifts me higher. Open my eyes to the beauty of Your plans and guide me into a life that fully reflects Your purpose. Amen.
Reflection Question: What is one opportunity in your life right now where God may be asking you to step out in faith instead of fear? I encourage you to say yes. The ride will be breathtaking!
